
FIRST AID
First Aid is a life skill that all members of the general public should have. It gives you tools to prevent the situation from becoming worse. In some situations if a patient doesn't receive basic first aid care immediately their situation will deteriorate – often rapidly. By being able to provide basic care you can stabilize a patient until emergency medical services arrives. RAFAC offer progressive training to develop these skills for all cadets & staff, offering key mandatory training relative to our activities & events we get involved in. A brief overview of courses offered is listed below.

Essential First Aid
A minimum 2-hour attendance course for all cadets, delivered within the first 3-months of joining as a new recruit.

Youth First Aid
12-hour course with 3 independent assessments of practical skills for delivery to all cadets regardless of age. Delivered within 18 months of joining.

Activity First Aid
16-hour course with an independent assessment or continuous assessment of practical skills for delivery
to all CFAVs.

Instructor First Aid
Specialist Training Course - residential delivered over 8 days on a national or regional level. Challenging but rewarding course as part of the 4-stage progressive training syllabus.

Competitions - CASSIM
CASSIM - casualty simulation makes first aid training more realistic & enjoyable. Using fake blood & props, cadets are challenged to make the right decisions based on their level of training to save lives.

AED
AED - automated external defibrillator training is offered. Two levels including competent operator course or awareness training as part of First Aid progressive training.
